Historically until now the idea was yes we want to prevent foreign corruption in the form of donations of any things of value, but we also want to prevent foreign corruption in the sense of having foreign decision makers involved in the campaign. That illustrates, or helps to illustrate, the underlying Congressional intent of, look, the one thing that ought to be sacrosanct in our country, free from interference, is our election. That’s what voting is supposed to be about.
I think the way I would have written this article, I would have said “The President of the United States has committed historic and contemporary acts of bribery.”
Usually our liberal credentials don’t come under much fire on this show…
The answer to virtually everything Turley says in the state of the record of impeachment is, the state of the record is that way because we have a President who has instructed duly subpoenaed witnesses not to testify on grounds that do not withhold any sort of constitutional muster.
